So as the title suggests i cant seem to get it to work. I've tried fixes from multiple posts but with no luck. (reinstalling virtual box, installing from root. i even did a fresh install of windows 10 just in case it was something to do with upgrading from windows 7) After some research others on windows 10 seem to have no problem running virtual box so i think it might just be the CS50 appliance.

Can anyone else confirm that the cs50 appliance does work on windows 10? or help me with this error? Thanks

This is the error

// The virtual machine 'CS50 Appliance 2014' has terminated unexpectedly during startup with exit code 1 (0x1). More details may be available in 'C:\Users\username\VirtualBox VMs\CS50 Appliance 2014\Logs\VBoxStartup.log'.

Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005) Component: MachineWrap Interface: IMachine {f30138d4-e5ea-4b3a-8858-a059de4c93fd} //

  • I have tried to download a new VirtualBox beta and it seems to be working on my Windows 10.

I get the same error message. I installed my virtual box and appliance in windows 8.1 and it worked perfectly with windows 8.1. After the upgrade without changing anything else, it doesn't work anymore.

  • I have the same problem but I've been able to resolve the first error by removing the CS50 appliance and re-importing then effecting the network changes (IP/Subnet) under settings/preferences. However, it still says invalid settings detected - No bridge network adapter is currently selected. I have a feeling it's a problem with the Name - VirtualBox Host-only Ethernet Adapter #2. It shouldn;t have #2. I don't know how to get rid of that.

  • Pls try checking your network settings and adjust by disabling the second and third adapters and keep only the first. This was what resolved my problem.

  • I also have #2 and it's greyed out. If I delete it from File - Preferences, I get an error if I try to install it again (with the hope that it doesn't get #2 in the name). Does anyone have another suggestion on how to loose the #2?
