I downloaded the appliance in September 2014. The title that appears on top of the window is "appliance50-19-vmware". Does this mean my version is 19?

Is there another way to check the version?

Yes, most likely. You can double check by running version50 at a terminal prompt inside the appliance, or look at the bottom right of the window where the version number should be displayed.

If you are going to do the CS50x3 (2015) edition, you will need to get Appliance 2014 as described in pset1.

The command version50 produces an error in my Appliance 19: bash: version50: command not found. The command that worked is appliance50 -v, which is mentioned in the Appliance 19 manual.
